If you want some extra speed in your gameplay, though, an "instant" text display speed has been added to the Options. Its FPS is now whatever your monitor's refresh rate is, rather than a fixed 40, and v-sync is enabled to reduce screen tearing. It'll also run more smoothly because Essentials is now fully FPS agnostic, which means it runs at the same rate no matter what the FPS number is. The rest of the game will also run better because of mkxp-z's update. You'll most notice the performance improvements, though, which coupled with some rewriting of the Compiler code means that the Compiler is about 10 times faster than it used to be. It has been updated to v2.4.2.ee8dc7e, which is a mouthful, but it brings various performance and functionality improvements, including the possibility of multi-track BGMs. Mkxp-z is the replacement to RGSS that Essentials uses, and is the basic game framework on which Essentials is built. I can't promise it will be that clever about it, but at least the AI now knows what a Revive does. Certain wild Pokémon, namely Legendary/Mythical/Ultra Beast Pokémon, can have a higher skill level and will not use moves entirely at random - this also depends on a flag, but one in pokemon.txt rather than trainer_types.txt. Many of these skill flags are given to a trainer automatically based on their trainer type's skill level. There's a flag for whether the trainer should keep their final Pokémon until last, for example. Now, though, some skill flags have been invented, which dictate how a trainer's AI behaves. Skill flags were supported in previous versions of Essentials, but were unused. And if the AI breaks while deciding what to do, it will no longer give the player a free shot by doing nothing at all for that round. They'll also avoid using a move which scores significantly worse than another move they could use - previously it would just have a smaller chance to use such bad moves. There's a bit less randomness now, as trainers will completely avoid using a move they know will fail. I also added a lot of new code and calculations to give the AI a better idea of how things work and what situations are good and bad. I broke it into more manageable chunks and rewrote pretty much all of it. This post is a summary of the bigger changes, and you can check out the change log linked above to see a more exhaustive list of what's new.Ī year ago, I asked people what they most wanted to be done to Essentials, and the biggest response was "improve the AI". This is mostly unintentional, and a year just seems to be how long it takes to make a version's worth of changes. The trend these days is for Essentials to get a new release each year.

The forecast calls for job growth to accelerate from 1.7% in 2014 to 2.1% in 2015 and eventually to 2.8% by 2017. Since gasoline purchases make up a significant share of household budgets, this may free up resources for households to spend on other priorities. On an inflation-adjusted basis, Phoenix gas prices have been gradually trending down since 2012 and are now at levels last seen in 2010, as shown in Exhibit 3. Indeed, Phoenix gas prices dropped from $3.41/gallon in June 2014 to $2.16/gallon in January 2015. One hopeful sign for retail sales growth in 2015 is the massive decline in gasoline prices since last summer. Taxable sales at restaurants and bars were up 8.2% year to date through November. The annual growth rate for 2014 is likely to lower because of a large one-time transfer into the category in December 2013. Taxable retail sales less food was up 4.7% year to date through November. Unspectacular income gains lately have resulted in similarly uninspiring gains in retail sales. That was far below the state’s average rate during the 30 years before the Great Recession, of 4.8% per year. For instance, real personal income growth in the state during the past four quarters was 2.2% (U.S. While Arizona personal income rose at a faster rate than the nation last year, growth was not very rapid by historical standards. Both natural increase (births minus deaths) and net migration contributed to growth during the past year.Ĭontinued job and population growth have contributed to personal income gains in Arizona. Population in the Phoenix MSA rose by 1.5% in 2014 and 1.1% in the Tucson MSA. That translated into a rate of growth of 1.3%, which exceeded U.S. According to the Arizona Department of Administration, the state added 86,200 residents between July 2013 and July 2014. Housing activity has been sluggish in part because of weak population and household growth. The strength in multi-family permits reflects rising single-family house prices, still tight mortgage lending conditions, and demographic factors. Multi-family permits were up by 47.3% for the year, while single-family permits declined by 3.9%. The preliminary data suggest that Arizona housing permits rose by 9.9% in 2014, or roughly 2,500. Keep in mind that the exhibit reflects Arizona job growth measured by EBRC’s benchmark, which incorporates data from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages through June 2014.Įxhibit 2: Arizona Single and Multi-Family Permits As Exhibit 1 shows, the state’s over-the-year job gains were close to, or even below, the national average for much of 2014. Arizona Recent DevelopmentsĪrizona added jobs during the final three months of 2014, but at a moderate pace. The outlook calls for the state to gradually gain momentum in coming years, with help from lower gasoline prices, faster national growth, and a bit less federal fiscal drag. Second, federal fiscal drag continues to weigh on the state economy. What is holding the state back? First, population growth is positive but slow and this is contributing to an unusually weak housing/construction recovery. Overall, the state is growing at rates that are in the neighborhood of the nation, but that are well below our own past history. Sluggish gains in Arizona employment, income, and retail sales continued in the fourth quarter of 2014. Some enhancements were made, for instance PHP Markdown Extra, and GitHub flavored Markdown. The reader is referred to the Markdown site for more details. In the next section the standard Markdown features are briefly discussed. While Markdown's syntax has been influenced by several existing text-to-HTML filters, the single biggest source of inspiration for Markdown's syntax is the format of plain text email. The idea is that a Markdown-formatted document should be publishable as-is, as plain text, without looking like it's been marked up with tags or formatting instructions. The design goal for Markdown's formatting syntax is to make it as readable as possible. It is a plain text formatting syntax written by John Gruber, with the following underlying design goal: Markdown_table(data).set_params(row_sep = 'markdown').Markdown support was introduced in doxygen version 1.8.0. Markdown_table(data).set_params(row_sep = 'topbottom').get_markdown() Markdown_table(data).set_params(row_sep = 'always').get_markdown() find_longest_contiguous_strings() can be useful to figure out the minimal width of each column given a particular data. count_emojis() detects emojis and their position in a given string, and find_longest_contiguous_strings() finds the longest continuous strings present in the rows and/or columns of your input data. The namespace py_markdown_table.utils provides the functions count_emojis() and find_longest_contiguous_strings(). | quote | bool | | Wraps the generated markdown | | multiline_delimiter | str | | Character that will be used to | | | | rows_and_header | Splits rows and header | | | | rows | Splits only rows overfilling | | multiline_strategy | str | | Strategy applied to rendering | | multiline | dict | | Renders the table with | | emoji_spacing | str | | Strategy for rendering emojis | | float_rounding | int | | Integer denoting the precision | | newline_char | str | | Character appended to each row | | padding_char | str | | Single character used to fill | | | | centerright | Centers cell's contents with | | | | centerleft | Centers cell's contents with | | | | right | Aligns the cell's contents to | | | | left | Aligns the cell's contents to | | padding_weight | str | | Strategy for allocating | | padding_width | int | | Allocate padding to all table | | | | markdown | Separate only header from body | | | | topbottom | Separate the top (header) and | | row_sep | str | | Row separation strategy using | markdown_table(data).set_params(.).get_markdown(), which allows you to pass the following keyword arguments: +-+ To add parameters to how the markdown table is formatted, you can use the set_params() function on a markdown_table object, i.e. You can also use pandas dataframes by formatting them as follows: from py_markdown_table.markdown_table import markdown_table | six-pack? The difference between the European P-grading system (number has a P in front of the number) and the more common ANSI or CAMI standard is that the European number is based on the number of openings if the width of the wire mesh was eliminated from the calculation. For example, a 120 grit particle is approxmiately 105 microns in size, whereas, a 1200 grit particle has a particle size of 2.5 microns. Thus larger grits numbers would represent smaller or more openings in a mesh screen and thus would correlate to smaller sized particles. Roughly speaking, grit size represents the number of wires or mesh of wires per a specified area. Grit size would refer to the size of the particle if it were classified or sized with mesh screens. Typically 60 or 120 grit sizes have been found to be the most useful grain sizes for metallographic grinding with zircon.įor metallographic abrasives the particle size is typically classified by grit size or average particle size in microns. It is a very tough abrasive, so it lasts longer, however it is generally not as hard or sharp, and thus requires higher pressures to be effective. Zircon, or zirconium silicate, is another less common abrasive used for coarse grinding. For metallographic applications, polycrystalline diamond is recommended as a rough polishing abrasive. Although diamond would be ideal for coarse grinding, its price makes it a very inefficient grinding material for anything except for hard ceramics. It has a cubic crystal structure, and is available as a natural or an artificial product. Is the hardest material known to man (mHV). Note that larger coated or bonded grit sizes of alumina are commercially available, however they are not ideal for metallographic applications because they become dull, resulting in lower cut rates and higher surface and subsurface damage. Unlike SiC, alumina breaks down relatively easily to submicron or colloidal particles. Alumina abrasives are used primarily as a final polishing abrasive because of their high hardness and durability. It exits in either the softer gamma (mohs 8) or harder alpha (mHV) phase. 150x)Īlumina is a naturally occurring material (Bauxite). SEM micrograph of 600 grit SiC Abrasive Paper (original mag. Note that coated abrasives are not quite coplanar, thus SiC papers produce the maximum efficiency (cut rate, stock removal and minimal damage) because new abrasive is exposed as the old abrasive breaks down. This is achieved by aligning the abrasive particles approximately normal to the backing. For metallographic preparation, SiC abrasives are used in abrasive blades and for coated abrasive grinding papers ranging from very coarse 60 grit to very fine 1200 grit sizes.īonded or coated abrasive papers of SiC are designed so that the abrasive will have a large number of cutting points (negative abrasive rank angle). SiC is an excellent abrasive for maximizing cutting rates while minimizing surface and subsurface damage. It is also somewhat brittle, and therefore it cleaves easily to produce sharp new edges (self sharpening). It is an ideal abrasive for cutting and grinding because of its hardness and sharp edges. It has a hexagonal-rhombohedral crystal structure and has a hardness of approximately 2500 HV. SiC is a manufactured abrasive produced by a high temperature reaction between silica and carbon. The following are the most common metallographic abrasives: After the trunk has been drawn, the program resets the console color and prints a message wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas!". After the top of the tree has been drawn, the program draws the trunk using the of DarkRed. The ornaments are given random colors by setting the property to a random color before printing each ornament. For each row, it calculates the number of asterisks and spaces needed, chooses a random number of ornaments, creates a list of ornaments and asterisks, shuffles the ornaments, and finally draws the row. The program then enters a loop to draw the top of the tree. Next, it creates a random number generator to use for choosing the colors of the ornaments and shuffling their positions. It then calculates the number of rows needed for the top of the tree based on the width. The program starts by parsing the first command line argument as the width of the tree. Here is the complete source code for the program: How It Works Let's begin! Blogpost by ChatGPTĬhristmas is just around the corner, and what better way to get into the holiday spirit than by drawing a beautiful Christmas tree using ASCII art? In this article, we'll go through the steps of creating a C# program that draws a colorful Christmas tree with randomly placed ornaments and a brown trunk. The first generated fully by ChatGPT (including the code), the second written by me, explaining the steps I took to arrive at this result. To go one step further, I asked it to write the accompanying blogpost as well! This post then consists of two parts. Impressed by what it can do, I decided to push its limits and ask it to write a Christmas tree generator program in C#, going through several rounds of improvements to arrive at the final result. It has the ability to write articles, stories, and code, and can engage in conversations with users in a natural and believable way. This December I spent considerable time playing with ChatGPT - an AI language model developed by OpenAI that can generate human-like text when given a prompt. Groves for organizing it again this year! Source code available on my GitHub. I don't really expect very much originality in chat, so the flooding of chat with it at party scenes doesn't really unnerve me, although I do understand why it would others so I don't partake in it myself. This article is part of C# Advent 2022 event! Thanks Matthew D. I did have to change the way my viewer displays text though because otherwise it just looks like junk text. While roaming around on opensim, I stumbled upon an exhibit that showed off a bunch of ANSI art which was simply amazing, I believe it was on a region that was responsible for a customized version of the Ruth Avatar, but it has been a while. While exploring it, I thought how cool it would be if ANSI was supported through SL, although I really doubt many people would appreciate it that much.Īs far as people flooding local chat with ASCII art, it brings back a bit of that nostalgia feeling so I am okay with it all. I do recall doors just started using RIPscript when I made the switch to the web, and it never really took off. I think RIPscript was what surpassed ANSI on the BBS scene but, it was short lived as the Internet became more popularized and the web was more capable with gifs. I never had the knack for it myself, even though it never stopped me from trying. I remember well going through ANSI art on BBS' and being amazed at the skill involved with it all. The ones that make your chat window scroll like those old superfast page printers.? Not for me, thanks, but I wouldn't want to take away the warm, fuzzy feeling of those who enjoy them. Personally I limit myself to the occasional unicode character in a message (a 'thumbs up' or something), like I might us a 'LOL'. With ANSI art you could make your art animate! What better use of a 300 baud modem and expensive telephone call could there be? that's where ASCII (and, even more fun, ANSI, which most actually use but think it's ASCII) art started of course. The terminal room (which also soon housed the very earliest IBM PCs) had a glass wall with the mainframe on the other side and the lower ranks would stand with their noses pressed to the glass wondering what we were up to in there, humming the theme to Wargames. Our CompSci department had some superfast line printers that could actually throw wide carriage fanfold straight up into the air as it exited the printer's top. Wow - things buried in deep memory! Yep - I recall those days too. Reminds of the the days when people would print ASCII "Art" on long fanfold banners from dot-matrix printers. |
